Thank you Arnie--I have had a difficult time integrating the fact that Reb Duvid is gone since he was always so much bigger than life. I took a class from him at the Hebrew Univ 20 yrs ago and, week in and week out, it was a forum when he diverted from what we thought he was going to teach to talk about what was on his mind. He was a phenomenon--funny, brilliant, angry at the status quo, and you're right--going back and forth between english and hebrew. yehi zichro baruch.

Arnie, thanks for writing this and singing Hartman's praises so beautifully. I read and digested "A Living Covenant" at least 20 years ago, and think it's the most interesting and profound book on Judaism I've ever read (except for your books, of course ;-). I was also very moved by one of his presentations at his institute, but didn't know that he so deeply touched so many other people, including you. It makes perfect sense.
